Helen Pierce
After graduating from Goldsmith’s University, Helen went on to Trinity College of Music, where she was given a bursary for a Master’s Degree, which she passed with distinction studying under Keith Puddy and Nick Bucknall. In 2001 she was awarded the Wilfred Hambleton prize for clarinet. Subsequently she studied in Germany with Roland Diry (Ensemble Modern), and with Hans Deinzer in the Scuola internazionale di perfezionamento musicale, Italy.
Helen has worked with Ensemble Modern, touring with them under the English composer/conductor George Bejamin to Brussels, Cologne and Frankfurt. Whilst in Germany, she also worked with the Staatstheater Oper in Darmstadt in their 2003 production of Don Giovanni, and also on a project with the Frankfurt Schauspiel ,performing regularly in Frankfurt with guest performances in the Koncerthaus, Berlin. Other orchestras Helen has worked with include the Frankfurt Museums Opera Orchestra, English Sinfonia, the Adderbury Ensemble and the New Telford Symphony Orchestra among others.
In the field of Chamber Music, Helen plays regularly with Clariphonics and her trio, London Reeds, are busy members on the Live Music Now scheme for young musicians. Helen has just finished recording in Germany a CD of Messaien’s Quator pour la Fin Du Temps.
